Golden Onions

Flat-shaped, ideal for machine peeling

Commonly used for casseroles, soups, stews and braised dishes, and generally considered the best all-purpose onion. Golden onions carry anti-inflammatory properties and a strong antioxidant capacity, from a range of organic sulphur compounds held in a volatile oil. Stronger and more complex in flavour than red onions, and widely known for their pungency. Egyptian golden onions are flatter than those grown elsewhere, which makes them ideal for machine peeling.
